Vulcania is often at the top of the list when a family is planning a vacation in the region. The volcano-themed park is worth a full day’s visit. But a trip to Auvergne It’s more than just a visit. That’s where the Château d’Ygrande comes in, a place to stay where you can visit Vulcania one day and then enjoy the 40-hectare estate the rest of the time.
Let's be specific about the distance. About 120 kilometers separate the park from the castle, located in theAllier, in the far north of the region. The day in Vulcania So plan it like a real day trip : leave after breakfast and return in the late afternoon. The rest of the stay is spent in the peaceful countryside, far from the crowds at the major attractions. The castle is located at the intersection of several highways, making both the trip there and back easy. For a family traveling from far away, staying overnight at the estate the night before also avoids having to combine a long drive with a full day at the park.
The park is not open year-round. Before setting your dates, it’s best to check the Vulcania's hours of operation, which lists the days and times when the castle is open to the public. - The day before Arrival at the castle, swimming (in season), and dinner on site.

This arrangement helps avoid overly packed days. When we return from Vulcania in the evening, we come home to a quiet house, a large park, and air-conditioned rooms where we can enjoy a restful night’s sleep. The next morning, we happily linger over breakfast, looking out onto the park. Then we plan the day as the mood strikes us.
When choosing a place to stay while visiting Vulcania, it’s worth selecting one based on what it has to offer on other days. At the Château d’Ygrande, that means a heated pool in the summer, horses just steps away, a hammam, and an entire park to explore.
